Classes & Registration
Winter Session begins January 15.
Group classes are an excellent way to get started on the instrument. They provide a safe and fun environment to learn and try out new things while also building confidence and listening skills. Class size is limited and pace is geared specifically to students’ needs. Classes are 60 minutes each and run in eight-week sessions (unless noted otherwise).
Guitar 101:
This class offers students a solid introduction to open and power chords, simple scales and all things rock! Material drawn primarily from female artists and songwriters.
Pre-Teen (girls ages 8-10) Sundays, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Pre-Teen/Teen (girls ages 11- 14) Sundays, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Ladies Guitar School version (older teens and women): Day and Time TBD
Ensembles
Girls With Guitars Level 1 (previous playing experience required, for advanced beginner to intermediate players):
This eight-week program offers students the opportunity to work in an ensemble format. Students will explore arrangement, performance and improvisational skills. Students will work in pairs and as a group on two to three songs, culminating with a performance in-store or at a local venue. May also include field trip to local music event. Permission of instructor required.
Sundays, TBD
Girls With Guitars Level 2 (previous playing experience required – for intermediate to advanced players):
This eight-week program offers current group and private students the opportunity to work in an ensemble format. Students will explore arrangement, performance and improvisational skills. Students will work in pairs and as a group on two to three songs, culminating with a performance at a local venue. May also include field trip to local music event. Permission of instructor required.
Afternoon Workshops:
A Gathering of Guitars
An open hour-long clinic for female students of guitar and bass. This clinic offers students a chance to work with other players on a different skill set each time without committing to a full session. Students will be paired up according to level, age and or skill set to be worked on. Contact with instructor/facilitator required beforehand for proper level placement.
Fee $15.00 per student. Please talk to your instructor or contact us at 818-903-7763. Approval/level placement of student is necessary, so please give a call/email before attendance.
Baxter Northup Music is located at 14534 Ventura Blvd. (just West of the Van Nuys & Ventura intersection), Sherman Oaks, CA.
Tuition:
All eight-week classes: $250.00, includes materials fee.
There is a minimum enrollment of three students per class for class to run.
We also offer private lessons on a weekly basis year-round.
Rates:
30 – minute: $30.00
45 – minute: $45.00
60 – minute: $60.00
Mom & Daughter semi-private lessons:
45 – minute: $60.00
We also offer lessons via Skype, call us for details and availability.
Student must provide their own instruments. Small practice amps are required of students using electric guitars (group class formats only). No refunds for missed classes.
